(Ciudad de El Vaticano, 23 de abril de 2025 – MundoUR).- Ya el féretro con el cuerpo del papa Francisco fue depositado en la basílica de San Pedro, en El Vaticano, para que los feligreses puedan dar su último adiós al pontífice durante los tres días que dura la capilla ardiente; previa al funeral a realizarse el sábado 26 de abril.
La Guardia Suiza, fiel custodia de la seguridad vaticana, está presente con sus trajes ceremoniales junto a cardenales y demás personas cerca de la tumba de San Pedro, donde se dispuso el ataúd con los restos mortales de Francisco, que están a una ligera distancia del paso permitido para la despedida.
Se espera que para el funeral del pontífice, varios líderes y jefes de Estado hagan acto de presencia en Roma en una actividad de alto nivel.
Entre los confirmados están el presidente de Estados Unidos, Donald Trump y su esposa Melania; el mandatario de Argentina, Javier Milei, su hermana Karina y varios ministros.
Además, se espera que el presidente de Brasil, Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva, y la primera dama Janja; y el de Ecuador, Daniel Noboa; estos por América.
